Honoring All Parts During Therapy
The Power of IFS-Informed EMDR
When I integrate EMDR with Internal Family Systems (IFS) therapy, we approach your healing journey with compassion for all parts of yourself. This combined approach allows us to:
address
traumatic memories with gentleness and respect.
Recognize and honor
the protective roles of different parts of yourself.
process
difficult emotions
without you becoming overwhelmed.
create
lasting change by healing at the source.
This approach is particularly effective for those dealing with childhood trauma, difficult relationship patterns, anxiety, and the effects of growing up in dysfunctional family systems, including Adult Children of Alcoholics (ACoA) and codependency concerns.
In my practice, I offer several BLS options:
1)”Buzzies” (handheld tappers) – the most popular choice among my clients
2) Light bar for visual bilateral stimulation
3) Combined approaches, including sound, if desired
4) Online EMDR using visual BLS

Frequently asked questions
EMDR stands for Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing. It’s sometimes mistakenly called “EDMR,” but the correct acronym is EMDR. This empirically validated therapy was developed to help process traumatic memories and negative beliefs in a structured, effective way.
IFS-informed EMDR combines Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing with Internal Family Systems therapy. This integration allows us to process traumatic memories while maintaining awareness of your internal system of parts. The approach tends to be gentler than traditional EMDR alone, because we work with protective parts that might otherwise block the processing, and we ensure that all aspects of your internal system feel safe during the work.
